40th Annual West Coast MV Rally at Petaluma, CA

April 18 through April 23, 2017

Petaluma, California, United States

Camp Petaluma, the big West Coast Military Vehicle Rally, is the new venue for what was Camp Delta at Tower Park. Location is historic Petaluma in Sonoma County this April, at the San Francisco North/Petaluma KOA, 20 Rainsville Road, just off Stony Point Road north of town. It is officially April 18-23, 2017 with our rates good for days before and after. Reason for the move to Petaluma is the campground at Tower Park was purchased by Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resorts and they are doing a complete renovation including a water park. This is shrinking the number of campsites, making it not work for us in April (but the Fall Camp Delta meet will return there centered in campgrounds 2, 3). After an exhaustive search for a large enough campground with amenities, the MVCC Board chose this very nice KOA in the Sonoma County dairy and wine region. The new venue has many long, pull-through campsites suitable for sharing, a variety of back-in and tent-oriented sites, dozens of small sleeping cabins, large lodges, an event building, and great MV driving opportunities on beautiful country roads ripe for excursions! One area has an open air, shared Kamping Kitchen with roof. Petaluma hotels, restaurants and antique stores are nearby. The Military Vehicle Collectors of California remains your host and we will have a 40th Anniversary party on Friday night with food and live music. All welcome. Discounted camping rates are valid for "early birds" arriving as early as the Sunday before. There is a 4 night minimum plus an option for those who can only camp on the last weekend. Details are on http://www.MVCCNews.net to include maps including an interactive campground map where you can see who has what site! Later we'll publish tips on the best routes to get there, and ideas for tourism while you are there. Sunday is the traditional "pull out day" but we expect people who have never been to our Spring or Fall meets, so vendors wanting new customers might be happy they stay open to Sunday morning. Here is what's planned so far: Two MV road trip options on Friday with lunch stops Military radio demonstration Thursday and ??? with ranging exercise for those going offsite to see how their unit performs Lunch in Historic Downtown Petaluma with shopping, on Thursday Thirsty Thursday - BYOB and munchies. Vintage attire welcome Taco Truck Pancake breakfasts by the Ladies of the MVCC Friday, Saturday Friday dinner and party with live big band music. Vintage attire welcome MVCC member meeting Saturday with officer election final nominations, news about the September Camp Delta, on Saturday Fantastic commemorative T-shirts for sale As usual for our Spring meet, our own Jo-Ann Lesser is our "Wagon Master" handling campsite and cabin assignments. KOA will not accept a reservation until Jo-Ann puts you on their list. Ask her about the rates for sharing large sites and if you have a site you want to share. Wristbands will be given to each camper and if you have extra bands you may leave these at the office to admit friends who commute. Contact Jo-Ann at 408-238-8277 or mamalesser@yahoo.com for camping. Activities coordinator is John Neuenburg at 415-847-2801 or in_garage@hotmail.com. Please let him know if you have extra space in your campsite a commuter can use to park and show his MV. If you have talked with Jo-Ann and are on her list but you have not contacted KOA to put a deposit on your site, DO SO RIGHT AWAY OR RISK LOSING IT! This is the same policy we have been operating under for years. There is an interactive campground map here that shows who is in what site. Hover pointer over the site or see the list of names: http://www.mvccnews.net/petaluma_spring.html Here is the KOA website. Disregard the lodging rates and do not contact them directly until Jo-Ann says so: http://koa.com/campgrounds/san-francisco/

Camp Delta Fall MV Swap Meet and Gathering at Tower Park

September 19 through September 24, 2017

Six miles west of Lodi, California, United States

The second largest West Coast MV swap meet and MV gathering will return to Tower Park in September! You should know by now that the big April meet is being moved to the KOA in Petaluma, CA because the company that bought the Stockton Delta KOA is doing a full renovation, shrinking the number of campsites in favor of pull-throughs, and creating a water park. So it will be too small for the April meet but just right in September! Our event will be in campgrounds 1, 2, and 3. Campground 1 used to be the long term rental area. 2 and 3 are the ones we used every April that are next to the levee where the entry/exit ramps are. Campground 4, the area we have focused on for the Fall meet, will not be for us however we can use the pools and water park. The manager is revising the campsite map so reservations cannot be accepted yet. We will announce when they can. This will be an excellent venue for families with children. The facility is now owned by Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resorts. More cabins are being built. An activity schedule will be published later. Address is 14900 West Hwy 12, Lodi, CA 95242.
