GPW 52235

This Ford GPW was registered as a civil vehicle on June 19, 1958 and carries the UK reg plate number VLP703. This was at the time that the UK government was selling off surplus WW2 vehicles probably from their Ruddington Depot. So this is probably an Ex British forces Jeep but no other details are known. The frame number seems to have been obliterated, possibly by the British Army so I only have the number from the data plate on the glove box which is not original. This is hard to read and the registered frame number in the UK civil licensing document is similar but not quite the same. The engine number on more careful investigation seems to be MB 409754 making it a 1945 vintage MB replacement engine. The tub and engine details fit with mid 1942 although some items like the steering wheel, BO lamp and oil dip-stick handle seem to be from later models circa 1943. I will update this later if and when I discover more. I also have a 1943 Bantam trailer. I will also add photos later.
