Ford GPW 217716

The engine was changed and is a late model CJ2A or possibly a CJ3A. She was changed over to 12 Volt but I have pretty much got her back and working on 6 volts. She came with out seats or a fuel tank, both have been purchased and installed. I have slowly been buying the parts on Ebay or through Ron to bring it back to operational working order, the wife is pretty understanding. I believe the previous owner Lincoln Locked(welded) the rear differential up, so it will have to be looked into. The engines oil pressure drops out when in idle so it will need to be over hauled. I love her for what she is rough, it's a project in the roughest of stages, but fun to reflect on where she after her delivery date. I have found some F marked bolt but not many. I had to replace the whole back panel as Bubba made it into a CJ some time ago. He also beat back the left rear fender well in to accomadate the huge belly that he probably had. The tool box covers were removed as were the tops that they went on. The side of the tools boxes were cut open as he didn't have the keys. I do have the original locks but they have been fooled with and will have to be looked at by a locksmith. Why keep it, because history should always remembered and passed on. This is a partially working piece of history. I finally had the time to take the engine down and found the oil inlet screen almost completely blocked off with timing gear fibers and Silicone sealent. The #1 And #4 Conrod caps had been switched, and the camshaft soft plug was missing. The oil pressure was good enough to not wipe the bearings but some material (dirt & grit had passed through the bearings. The oil nozzle that feeds the gears is oversized also. The transmission thrust washers were severly worn down, the lock plate for the two shafts was missing. the bearing oil slinger was found in the transfer case in front of the gear. Both shift lever spring plates were missing. The oil seal for the Transfer case output sahft that has the parking brake was bad and had oil soaked the parking brake.
