WILLYS MB #196479 D.O.D: 17-12-42 Acquired in March 2003 in Tulsa, OK from a family that had owned over 30 years. Originally purchased in Colorado and used as farm vehicle in Kansas and Oklahoma. Owner had started restoration, and had stripped down to frame. Nothing but a pile of parts, which we are picking up and following through on. Original Willys frame and tub (American Central #98656). Post-war '48 Willys replacement engine (#800376). SPECIAL THANKS TO: My dream girl and wife, Margo, whose patience has been well-tested, but remains promising. My dear aunt Ann and uncle Charlie Penrose (Capt., USAAF 8th Fighter Group '43-'45 Pacific Theatre) who have loaned me their garage and are at least half-convinced they have been hoodwinked. My old-friend and cousin John Penrose, who remains a valued, though financialy responsible investor. Special thanks to my workhorse brother in-law, Matt Walsh tradesman extraordinaire. You name it Matt can weld it, repair it, paint it or install it. Without Matt I would be lost, and this project in serious trouble. And thanks also to Michael Walsh, my step-father in-law and veteran paratrooper (11th Airborne 2/188th A/I Regiment, Korean War). Good to have another veteran on the team, someone else who actually used these vehicles in the service. Restoration still in early phases, but have recently begun re-assembly process and have a solid rolling frame. Stay tuned! Margo & Brett October, 2003
