A TIME CAPSULE - AN ORIGINAL BOX OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT - WILLYS MB 1945

Luckily, I was able to acquire the only remaining, as supplied with a new WILLYS MB WWII jeep, original box of tools and equipment. It is still in the original cardboard box, and the tools still retain their original covering of cosmoline. The tools originally belonged to Mr. Kenneth R. Frederick. Mr. Frederick purchased a surplus Willys MB from the War Assets Administration on April 4, 1946.

The box with the tools were located in the backseat area. Mr. Frederick removed the jack, grease gun, tire gauge, and tire pump, put them with the jeep when he drove it. The jack, grease gun, and tire pump never made it back to the box. The tire gauge is now back with the kit. The box with the remaining contents were stored in the attic of his mother's house and forgotten. Mr. Frederick drove his MB from 1946 to 1950. In 1983, during the process of selling his mother's house, the box with the tools were discovered. Bob met Mr. Frederick in 1984 and became aware of the tool kit. After two years of negotiation, he was finally able to obtain the tools. They remained in his possession until I obtained them early in 1999.
