USMC or Canadian lift ring installation

Postby Jamie M » Tue May 10, 2005 3:00 pm

I am ready to drill the USMC MB bumper to accommodate the lift rings. Anyone know the dimensions? Dimension “A” is the long line and “b” is the short.

The rings are centered on the frame rivets... 9-1/4" center of bolt to edge of bumper on my frame.

The top bolt centerline is 7/8" from the top edge of the bumper. The ring should be flat on the top of the bumper when the ring is rotated around.

Hi Mark,
Good morning. What is the fixing position for the USMC Ram's horn. Do you just remove the rivets and fix the horns with longer bolts through the same rivet holes ? Or do you have to make new holes.
Are there any particular measurements.
Thanks for your advise.

Still night here on the West Coast, Horace. :)

On original Navy and USMC contract jeeps the frame was punched for larger holes for the bolts to fit (for 1/2" bolt). This is the rear rivet hole location and a hole not quite 2" behind that.

Jarhead was rigged for towing by my predecessor, works so well I stayed with it. We made him into a fine hunting jeep in the late 1970's.

Mark was helpful when I did my rings and hooks too. Matter of fact he is helpful all the time.
