Cable Path for the Fuel Sending Unit to the Gauge
I've done searches here and in the book, but can't seem to find the correct wiring path from the M38a1 Gas Tank to the Gauge. Is the wire completely independent, or is it attached to the main cable bundle coming from the backside of the jeep?

It's part of the chassis harness, and goes directly to the left and follows the inside edge of the door opening to the dashboard. Follow the instructions on page 157, and 229 of TM9-8014. Illustration of the wire is on Figure 69.

Re: Cable Path for the Fuel Sending Unit to the Gauge
I guess that was my question. The book has the wire leaving the sensor and gas tank and then just disappeared. (My jeep didn't have a gas tank and my cable was only a partial - so nothing to go by) I wasn't sure if the gas cable was to go underneath the floor and connect into the main chassis harness, or is it a stand alone underneath the door area and work into the dash alone. There seems to be a rib going up from the floor in the driver's compartment that I would have to go thru to get to the dash area.
I guess I wanted to know if I should go up or down.

Re: Cable Path for the Fuel Sending Unit to the Gauge
I could not get a good pic, but the fuel sending unit wire is in a loom and goes to the left of the tank, follows in the channel under the door opening, thru the hole in the vetical channel and follows the bottom left of the glove box to the firewall and turns right along the bottom of the glove box. The loom ends about 6" to the right of the glove box and the wire continues directly to the fuel guage. There are two metal tabs on the firewall under the glovebox that hold the wire up in place.

Perfect! That's exactly what I was looking for. Are there any clips holding up the wire under the door channel as well?
