On the back of the panel that holds the tranny relay and circuit breaker, I also have a distribution block for ground and power. The power strip has 3 of these DELPHI 25 amp fuse holders on it. They are the one at the top of your picture.

I just recieved a Hummer Steering Column Assy. The plan is to use it in place of the Humvee steering column.

The idea is to have A steering column lock and shifter locking for added security. The turn signal/flasher/high beam switch assy is removable with just two screws. There is a plate that holds the upper column bearing in place and it looks very ugly. I will trim off any non essential portions of the plate so it won't look so ugly. Here is a shot showing the column with the Mil Turn Signal bracket held in place. I'll have to weld it on once I find the correct location in relation to the steering wheel. This column has a different upper portion than the Mil columns, because of the casting that holds the ignition lock in position so I have to install the steering wheel and the little add on plastic piece that actuates the turn signal cancel portion on the mil turn signal switch before I weld on that bracket.

Interestingly enough, the "dog bone" and additional mounting support look strangly like the upgrade Mil column and the MWO add on piece so my guess is that the Mil upgrade was simply to use the CIVI parts in that area of the column.

Speaking of the upper column bearing retention plate. It has "ESCORT" stamped into it. I guess the casting that houses the ign lock barrel and shifter interlock connection area are Ford parts. Here is a foto that shows where the shifter interlock cable will attach. Hopefully I don't have to trim the dash board because of this. If necessary, it will be trimmed. I have lowered the steering column mounting bracket 1" in relation to the body tub, because of my body lift so I just might get away with not having to trim the dash.

This column won't allow me to use the normal horn activation switch, but I'm used to a foot operated horn switch like I have put into my daily driver trucks so I can add a switch on the floor towards the left of the Humvee high beam switch. The ignition switch will be handy for powering 12 volt stuff without the worry of leaving anything on upon leaving the vehicle.

i was told, the hummer h1 coloum was from a ford escort... i know the key is ford, and looks like alot of the internals are also ford escort.

I found a rubber stamped ford logo on the casting for the lock cylinder/switch and interlock, but the column is AMG design all the way. After a bit of measuring. I figure I'll have to do just about 3/4" of trimming to the dash/instrument cluster housing to allow for the civi anti theft convineances on the right hand of the column. This is even though the civi column housing tapers down just aft of the "dog bone". Positioning the Mil bracket for the turn signal will be easy. The steering shafts are the same length and the ends are machined the same so I can measure from either end. I won't do any cutting right away though.

the collum is indeed ford escort. an AMG engineer confirmed this for me this weekend. they use quite a bit of ford parts on the V. fuel selector valve system on the H1 is all F250 stuff.

you can also move the slotted steering bracket that rivits to the body, move it like a 1" and the colum will fit a hmmwv dash with out cutting the dash... i know because ive done it before, and steered good with no binding, makes a nice job!!!!

I have thought of doing just that, but I've already lowered that bracket 1" to keep the steering shaft within spec, because of my 3 3/4" body lift. I think if I trim a tiny bit off of the left side of AMG's energy absorbsion system and oval out the hole in the left leg of the steering column attach system, I should get the bit of movement needed. That along with being able to slide the dash assy towards the right a bit will do the trick. I'll have to be carefull when I place the bracket that the turn signal mounts too, to keep the wire harness connector for the turn signal from hitting the dash board. Below is a foto of the item that I will trim. I have an extra so I can just pop in an un altered piece if I want to.

I just wached off 1/4" off of one side of the "thing". I'll pop it in place tonight and see what things look like. Hopefully I don't have to move the column so far over that I need to resort to Sprokets and Chain!

Well, my Christmas delivery arrived yesterday. Yea!
The main thing in the package was the Civi Slantback rear assy. It is better than I thought. All Aluminum and all up will only weigh 165 lbs. I cut out the rear panel from my HMC4 Hard Top earlier this week. One down side is that only a couple of holes for mounting the Sponson portion to the fenders line up with the holes for the Military sponsons. Rats! I'm not drilling new holes in my fenders so I'll drill into the sponsons. I was not shure that I'd like the windows, but now that I have it placed on the vehicle, I like them. The hatch window is heated too.
