Great progress so far. For what its worth, from what I recall, the hood numbers appeared to have been painted on first and then later applied as vinyl, but I didn't look at them in too much detail.

Today I made much progress... I got the body off the frame. Also, the serial number of the jeep matches the frame woohoo. Where is the serial number at on the engine?

You have earned demerits for having too clean of a garage. Very nice Jeep.

His garage won't be that clean for long! Hey Ben, can you remember if the Konig steel tops had any markings on the doors? Also what would have been on the front bumper? Thanks, Dan

The bumper on my Jeep is not original, not for sure what it came off of but it looks like they fab'd it up to have a winch on it... I removed it today and plan on putting an original one on it instead

Thanks usmc20c for helping me out with the lettering spec.s I really appreciate this!
Hey Ben Dover, can you tell us anymore of what you remember about the markings or any other details these jeeps had? The info. on the Warn hubs was good to know. I took my Warn hubs off as I thought they were not original for a military jeep. Thanks, Dan

Pitman arm puller works much better than using a hammer! I have used this to pull off multiple things rather than beating it senseless... btw who wants to sandblast my body and frame ? haha

Boy that's the part I hated the most. Also the sandblasing media is getting expensive. A sandblast cabinet sure helps with the smaller stuff.

I had a comercial guy do some combats and civy wheels, six wheels $109.
He does soda and other media blasting also.
I have rented a pressure blaster for bodies and frames, need a good air source, hope you don't live in town! messy and loud!
I did five combats in my blast cabinet (I don't use real agressive abrasive, so it takes longer).
The cabinet is a great investment, use it several times a week.

I remember the 1964 issue CJ-3Bs being issued as brand new, the doors were unmarked with the USA Registrations on the hood in the "1M-XXXX numbering series. FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY was under the registration. I did see some from the 716 MP out of Ft Dix that had MILITARY POLICE beneath the windshield in black over white. They were painted 14087 glossy O.D.
I am kind of partial to plain jane MVs and would at most use vinyl white tire pressure markings at each wheel as these were civilian vehicles and the 50's and later armed services commercial vehichles had neater markings.

Wow, you are the man I needed to talk to when I was doing my jeep's restoration. Let me get this strait, where all of them that you seen new painted with 14087 gloss OD? and you said earlier that they came with 6.00/16 NDT tires with Warn hubs? If issued with warn hubs, was there a decal on dash to explain use.
I have found small holes drilled in the floor between the front seats, was this to mount a fire extinguisher? if so, what type of extinguisher would be correct?
Also were their any numbers or decals on the front bumper?
And the million dollar question; are the civilian chrome headlight bezels correct? Thanks, Dan
