I have a guy doing up the art work for the data plate. Next step is to get a final price and I will get back to everyone.

I met with a fellow who makes plates for trophy's and does a lot of etching engraving etc. I will post the finished product when I get it made up. Would anyone be interested in purchasing a new reproduction Navy data plate? I will get a price once I get the design to him and post that as well.

For excellent reproduction data plates, talk to this guy;

Thanks for the lead. I had a look at his plates and they look good. I have sent him an email and will see if he has anything. I am also still trying to look into reproducing them myself.

Data plates have finialy been made. They turned out better than I could have hoped for and are as good as any of the repro plates out there. GIVE YOUR JEEP DASHBOARD A FRESH NEW LOOK!

If interested, I can have more made up now that I have the set up paid for. Each plate including postage is $60.00 including shipping within North America. I have built into the cost a percentage of the design cost and set up fee as well as the cost to have the plate made.

Can't figure out how to attach image to this reply so if you are interested, email me at soldroyd@shaw.ca and I will forward more info and pictures.

Figures, where were you when I spent all this time and money designing and producing mine. Oh well, I suppose Navy data plates will be coming out of the woodwork now.

Just to add to the confusion, of the three Navy data plates patterns (very nicely done btw) shown above the actual use varied to the point all three were in use at the same time so pick the one you like best but they seem to be for 53-65/6.

plate #1 DOD dates - 6/55, 2/57

plate #2 DOD dates - 12/52, 8/60

plate #3 DOD dates - 9/56 (2 different ones), 7/58. 8/65

Also I have different plates listed for 6/67 and 3/51, plus a '52 Ford I had it's picture go bad, plus International, Chrysler, and Kaiser had plates of their own as well.

Just as a side note the large brass Navy Dept tags were still in use in 1986.

Some additional info on the large plates that I have discovered, they came about some time in 1952 and not 53 as I thought. I have the numbers from two 1952 trucks less than 200 hundred registration numbers apart, one with the older small Navy plate and the second with the large brass Navy plate so the change was some time in 52. Unless of course the 2nd truck was a delayed issue due to problems, sadly the owner wouldn't give me the DOD so I could tell for sure but at least now the time frame and number range is pinned down more.
