Ben Hur Trailer parts

Post by rgus » Sun Jul 05, 2009 5:08 am

I just bought a really nice Ben Hur Trailer that is missing the rear light brackets also it's data plates were removed in a French rebuild in 1965. Are the Data plates available? I am also looking for the spare tire bracket that is mounted underneath the trailer. Anyone have any of these parts available?

Steel bodied Ben Hur tail light brackets are made of "unobtainium". Someone should repro them.

Build your own spare tire rack. Plans are here:

The above is a picture of the rack that came on one of my Ben Hur trailers. It is not made from the plans and has some guards on it for modern or European tail lights. I posted it as an example only.

Perhaps TM9 Ordnance could be convinced to resurrect his offer to sell 100% accurate professionally made brackets. They appear simple to copy from available plans, but the fit leaves little wiggle room as it is a tight fit under there.

Boy I didn't want to hear that. I guess push comes to shove a set of WW2 dodge brackets could work.

This is what the original steel bodied Ben Hur brackets look like.

That's what I am talking about! Do you have a set you would be willing to sell? I guess my chains are french replacements so I will need to replace them also with the correct ones.

I don't have a set for sale.

I bought these several years ago and could also use another set.

As I referred to earlier it would be great if someone with stamping equipment would repro them.
