GPW 2956 Restoration Update

Postby Ronnie Guin » Wed Dec 26, 2007 8:16 pm

Restoration work on GPW 2956 continues at a slow pace. Below are pictures of before and after of GPW engine 134090 that I am placing in the jeep next week. I just got it back form the machine shop where the decked it, remove one old sleeve and placed four new sleeves with standard pistons, they did put in seats in two of the vavles where there had been erosion, new guides and bearings. I have the body ready with the wiring harness in, most of the gauges, and the fuel line is mounted. All I have left to do is make all of the connections, get my radiator checked, rebuild the starter and distributor, and finish the fenders, grille, windsheild, seats, and hood paint.

Mike, I should have posted a picture of the early oil pan. I have it all clean and shiney gray and ready for installtion! I used the late pan to send it to the machine shop.

Happy New Year Mike!
