Fuel Bleed Line

Postby Chuck W. » Mon Jul 02, 2007 5:31 pm

I am trying to find the brass flair nut that goes on the 1/8" OD fuel bleed return line. I don't need the "T" fitting, just the flair nut for the line. I've tried all the local hardware & plumbing places with no luck. Tried McMaster-Carr on-line catalog, but all they list is for 3/16" OD tubing.......anybody know a better place to look? Help!

Chuck; Are you sure the hardware store did not have one? Anyway, you may want to try the auto parts store. Most of the lines for fuel pressure, oil pressure, and turbo gauge's use 1/8" line. You may need to look for a "plumbing kit" for one of these gauges.

So far, all those type lines that I have found have had compression fittings, and this needs to be flair. Rod and I have found a few places on-line that have them, but hate to pay $6.00 shipping for a $.50 fitting! Still trying to find it locally, but if not, I'll give Bill Watson a call, hate to disturb him while he's on vacation :D

Chuck, The 1/8" fuel return line has a double flare on the end of the pipe. I tried to substitute a 1/8" copper line with a standard flare with no success. The connection at the T fitting always leaked. The other option would be to replace the short section of the line with a good take off. Thats what I ended up doing after a lot of searching ad frustration.

The steel line is OK, and the flaired end is good, just split the nut when I cross-threaded it :( I got in too big of a hurry......everything I did Monday turned into crap!

after many years try to solve the problem of the leak at the carb 't' i have found that the brass fitting on the end of the 1/8 return has the incorrect flair, finaly found a company that can double flair the small line if every thing goes as promised i will have the 2 pc return line out of orignal material ( steel) after many years thrying to use copper i find that i just will not work without leaking, thanks bill

Chuckie,

Great news !!!! I have the paint (picking up 2 more gallons on July 21st at Mt Olive). I have ordered the stencils from Rick Larson of Mil-Stencils.

I'll set up a time so I can come over and pick up the mule so I can paint it using the Tractor shade method.
