WWII era Wooden Toys/ Now with part II

Postby SteveG » Sun May 13, 2007 9:44 am

For several years, I've collected WWII era wooden toys. Yesterday I finally found a small show case to bring some of them out into the shop. There's a mirrored back, so some toys look like duplicates. I added one picture of the big beast of the collection in front of the case.

Now have found a second showcase to bring the rest of the wooden toys out of the back bedroom in the house and out to the shop. Here they are. Interesting how many different toys were made in that era out of wood to keep kids happy!

Harley's

This is just part of the collection. I'm looking for another showcase for the rest. You're right, no Harley's. Never seen a WWII era toy depicting the WLA.

Scuttlebum

He's made of wood. One side is the front of the sailor the other side is his back. I've had that for maybe 20 years. Found it at a flea market back then. Still haven't seen another like it.

I just found what appears to be a WWII era wooden jeep toy. It is about 2 feet long. If I knew how to post a picture I would. Email me, maybe I can send you a photo.

Geez... That's a nice looking (but seriously DUSTY) International in the background. Was that some sort of Paramarine "light-weight airborne delivery version" made without a hood or radiator??? Hmmmm.

(Nothing like a little public humiliation to get the re-assembly moving, huh? )

/s/ Equally Uninspired in AZ (at times)

PS: How'd that mirror work out?

flogging

Postby SteveG » Fri Dec 21, 2007 12:52 pm

Jeff,
At least let me take my favorite shirt off before you start the flogging! There, now, beat me senseless.....

Yes that's the same dust you saw when you were here last. Now I have the cold winter weather (can't paint those parts until it warms up again) as an excuse.

From the looks of that mirror and arm you sent me, I'd say you must have been the one who broke into the barn where that Jeep was stored years ago and kyped them off it....They're a perfect match!

Once again AZ Jeff comes thru!!!!!!!

Best wishes for the holidays!!!!!!!!!

Now, where's that duster.....
