But if you want to know, keep reading.
Now that I have your attention, did you know that it is possible to do a front end wheelie on a mule only using the front left wheel?
Yes Sir're, its possible and it happened to me this afternoon. It scared the pi$$ out of me but let me share how to do it.
This afternoon after working on the ideling of the new mule I test drove it around the yard. After a few laps around the house I decided to get the mule out on the road to see how fast it would run and see how the govenor would kick in. I pulled out on the two lane road in front of the house and took off down a small hill. After hitting 3rd gear the govenor kicked in and I figured I was running about 20+mph. After about a 1/4 mile I thought about riding on the road and how much one of those Alabama State Troopers would like to catch me so I decided to take the neighbors drive to the left. You see the neighbors drive is about a 1/4 mile long asphalt drive. As I slowed down a bit to make the left turn I hit a couple of bumps and was soon back up to full speed because the govenor had kicked in. There I was, flying down the narrow drive. A 4 foot field fence on the left and a 4 strand barb wire fence on the right at the edge of the asphalt. While flying down the drive I noticed that the steering wheel was moving forward and away from me. Realizing that I must have left the hand screw loose on the steering wheel tube adjustment arm, I knew I need to get the steering wheel close to me. Without so much as a second thought, I gripped the wheel with both hands. Thinking it would be a hard pull, I yanked hard on the steering wheel. Well as we all learned in school, for each action you have an opposite and equal reaction. When I yanked hard on the steering wheel, it caused the whole steering system to cut the front wheels sharply to the right. The next thing I knew was I was 30 foot off the right side of the drive and had the mule up off the ground except for the left front wheel. The front basket was about a foot off the ground and I was staring at grass wondering what had happened. Then about that time, blam, the rest of the mule's wheels came back to earth. I just sat there a minute trying to realize what had happend and why. Needless to say if I had pulled the wheel back a second or two earlier, I would have hit the barb wire fence on the right side. Counted my blessing on that one while I took it easy back to the house.
Now you know what not to do.........
