Weasel Database Project

Postby Casey242 » Tue Mar 06, 2007 5:48 am

Hey all,

I added a Weasel to my family a few months ago, I just have to get it home... Any one happen to be running empty or with room for a weasel from NM to CO around April 13th thru the 21st... Anyways until I return back to the states I though I would work on an idea I saw over on the weasel message board about creating a database for the weasels. I have some coding experience but I’m not the best so it might not look all fancy but it should at least work.

So with me being a new comer to the weasel group and just starting my research I need help with what you all would all like to see in the form.

There will be the usual fields

Owner:
Model:
Serial number:
Registration Number:
Notes Field:

But what else do you want in the form, I can make it as simple or as detailed as you guys want it. Just give me the name of the field you would like to see with an example entry (just so I know about how long to make the field) Or if it would be better as a drop down list just give me the list for the selections ex:
MODEL: T24, M29, M29C, Etc.

I will try to post a rough draft of the form a week or two from now, depending on how steadily the ideas keep flowing in, and my current work load. I hope to have a functioning database by the end of April but don’t be disappointed if it’s closer to June… or longer but I really don’t foresee too many problem since I’m paying my friend to handle the few parts I know I can’t.

Just let me know and I will see what I can make happen.

Thanks,

/Casey242

Ps.. If some one wants to post this on one the weasel site that would be great I have been trying to get access for the last few months but no luck. - Thanks

G'day Casey242,
Steve Grammont set up a Weasel Tracker list on his Weasel Board some years ago:
http://www.m29cweasel.org/owners/own_tracker.html
and an owner's list:
http://www.m29cweasel.org/owners/own_ovw.html

However it hasn't been updated for quite some time. Perhaps a user-updateable list (which I presume yours will be) might attract more entries?

casey, it sounds like a great idea. the m29 site is good, and a 2nd sub site would also be nice.

Casey-One piece of info you might want to add is the bulkhead(or body) number. It is on a plate and viewed from inside the passenger compartment on the top of the wall between the crew compartment and engine.

I don't believe anyone has found correlation between that number and serial number.
