Post by Michael J. Boyle » Sun May 07, 2006 9:12 am

Okay you radio gurus, I found this cabinet that I didnt know I had, buried in my garage. I can tell from the markings that it is a storage box for radio crystals, but have no idea from what era this is from. Enlighten me, please!!

As you can see only one drawer is present. If anyone is interested in buying the cabinet, it is for sale. Please EMAIL me(not PM) for more pics and price.

Cabinet CH-219 ---- What era?

Post by wa5cab » Sun May 07, 2006 10:30 am

Michael,

Crystal storage chest for SCR-543-D (BC-669-D). The missing drawer would be labeled "CRYSTAL UNITS DC-34". DC-35 are receiver and DC-34 transmitter crystals.

The TM supplement on the -D model is dated 1/12/44, so generally speaking latter part of WW-II for vintage. The nameplate on your chest is dated FY 45, so ordered 1 JULY 1944 or later.
