There is a local jeep that shows up at events a few times a year here in my area. If you look really, really hard, you can find a jeep under all that stuff. Gear bags, sand bags, water bags, wire cutter, two machine guns, ammo boxes, black out light siren, camo net, ropes, pioneer tools, radiator cooling canisters, extra jerry cans, extra spare tire, etc.

Almost a rolling quartermaster depot.

That reminds me of the Army term "PX Soldier" for new GI's that pinned on extra ribbons and badges on their Class A's to wear off duty at the Post Beer Garden. I like to think of the guys who hang on all the garbage as "Dudes". The WWII Pot is enough decoration, and one can pee, bathe, and eat out of it.

Just two more items that I am hoping for, some fresher looking 1941 era CCKW data Plates, and one more SWB Spare Tire Lock. Been looking for the lock since I bought the CCKW in 1983. Waiting all these years is part of the fun.

I have no idea who sent them, it was postmarked Indiana.
As the "Aged Guy," you're POSITIVE postmark wasn't Torino?

Then Betcha' it was Kilroy.

My biggest headache is organizing all my finds. Remember ~10 yrs back Bill Eldred needed a speedometer. Knew I had one, so I PM'd him and said I'd ship. Took me all weekend to find it, then I shipped it, he never acknowledged, then found out he died.

Only positive was I unearthed Oodles of stuff I forgot I had.

Trinkets keep showing up. Latest Trinket is a unique H-700 Key attached to a Dog Tag. The Dog Tag is stamped with the USA Number W-471883, Service Btry 47 FA indicating it was assigned to SVC Battery, 47th Armored Field Artillery Bn, 5th Armored Div.
The 5th Armored Div. served in the ETO, 44 and 45. My wife and I were invited guests at the final 5th Armored Div. Reunion a couple years ago along with my MB and CCKW. I also got a flight in B-25 H "Betty's Dream" during this event.

What is special about this particular H-700 is that a tooth has been filed in order to permanently fix the key to the switch so that it cannot be removed once installed. This was done to the majority of keyed Ignition Switches during 1942 when the toggle type switch was adopted. There was a Bulletin issued to perform this mod, it is printed in WWII "Army Motors" and illustrated in the Lloyd White Volumes. I was going to use this key in my SWB CCKW, but will now hang it from the inside mirror along with my own Dog Tags and the Dog Tags My Uncle Joe wore as a RANGER in WWII.
Thanks to the generosity of G503 Member "98th signal battalion" this interesting CCKW item is one of the valued "trinkets" displayed with my CCKW.
Am forever indebted to this member.

Lawrence still lives on.

Started pawing thru my treasured parts and discovered a gift from Lawrence long, long ago in the early 70's. It is a WWII period Army colored Document Bag that has been re-stenciled as a bag for CCKW tire chains.
This is going to be stored in the cab of my CCKW.
Lawrence sent me a lot of nice trinkets from GM Wilson in Gladewater Texas.

The Spare Tire Lock under the bag is from lawrence.
The Spare is a WWII Issue Armstrong Heat Master.

I actually pulled the MG mount out of our MB, just too hard to carry any passengers plus for our impression of 6 Cav in N.Ireland, 1942/3 the Jeep likely didn't have one. We've tried to be pretty careful not to over clutter and stick to things that would have been in the vehicle. Latest find was a 1941 Gas Mask and bag.

Finding a few NOS Stewart Warner Temp gauges and an NOS Autolite Temp gauge were the best “trinkets” I’ve found in the last few years!

And sometimes it is better to give than receive. Sharing excess trinkets makes for happy Jeep owners.

One of my favorite "trinket" finds was Priority mail envelope a year or two ago from an anonymous sender containing NOS CCKW cylinder head nozzles, NOS closed cab Hinge Pins, Throttle Cable Brackets for Die Cast Carburetor, and Instructions for the GI Issue "Follow Me Kit" for installation on the MB Jeep and 1/2 Ton Pickups.. I have no idea who sent them, it was postmarked Indiana. No notes no clues to the sender.
Thank you who ever you are.

WHO WAS THIS MASKED MAN

Anyone have an idea who might have sent me these parts?

Nice stories of trinkets and treasures, here is a definite favorite. They are out there, but for some reason harder to find than I suspect they should be. Just have to find the rest of the tools now.

There was more to Lawrence Nabholtz than just Jeeps.
This WC was restored by Lawrence with mostly NOS sheet metal.
