42* F and colder with the wind chill at the Early Bird today. Up here, that's a good thing, because the flea markets are open year round and only the die heard sellers and buyers come out in the fall and winter! No walking past endless tables of beanie babies and china and sewing machines and clothes to get to the garage guys.

Did okay! Small haul with some very unusual finds...

Image

In front of the c. 1920's Kennedy Kits box:

- Aircraft Specialties "Magic Fingers" (flexible)
- Wartime Diamalloy 8" adjustable
- post-war BONNEY B17 U.S.A (no MADE IN) dykes

On top of the box, left (1/4-inch) to right (3/8-inch):

Midget
- wartime Snap-On 9/16 crowfoot
- wartime black ox Walden-Worcester 3109 6-pt 9/32" socket
- wartime BONNEY V8 1/4-inch drive 6-pt socket... If it looks OD green to you, you're not seeing things! It has - I sh*t you not - an OD baked enamel finish And I am convinced it's original!
- wartime BONNEY V9 1/4-inch drive 6-pt socket, also with original OD baked enamel finish!
Trust me, I scoured all the boxes the guy had for more. No dice.
- wartime THORSEN universal joint, unmarked except for brand and "1/4"
In all the midget sets I have collected - and that probably numbers into the dozens, I have NEVER seen a universal joint before! Just to make sure my experience isn’t anecdotally erroneous, I just checked a bunch of vintage catalogs - including Duro, Williams, and Bonney, and nobody else made uni joints smaller than 3/8-inch drive. Have you guys seen any?

Junior
- post-war BONNEY LT18 9/16" deep socket
- post-war BONNEY LT18 9/16" deep socket
- post-war Walden 4029 universal joint
- wartime Williams 706410 11/16 swivel socket
- an unknown universal joint with a wartime Plomb 5228 7/16" socket stuck on it!

More photos later.

Blast it all man, you did it again! Bright shiny thing down in front screaming "hey look at me"! Glasses case? I'd say WWI bacon tin, but for the round corners...

Luke,

It's very likely a case for safety glasses.

Thank you,
Henry

Sorry, I really don't like turning this into an everything goes garage sale thread with no connection to the G. But yes, your intuition was good. Marked "BELL SYSTEM L GOGGLES". It was full of drill bits and I asked the guy if I could dump them. I don't think he even realized it was marked.

That's funny! It's surprising to me that safety glasses don't appear more often in the higher eschelon kits.

Great scores Greg!

There are a coupe different eyecup type goggles in the upper echelon kits. The machinists' and sheet metal kits have 37-G-3455 (clear). The welder's kit has 37-G-3794 (shade No. 5). And 3rd and 4th echelon kits have a few of each. I've found some at fleas that are very close to the figures, but probably post-war.

I have a lot of catching up to do on close-up photos.

From last week's haul...

Cornwell wrenches. Plain steel, crudely finished, with the deep hex fit throat. Love these!

Billings & Spencer 11-inch Auto wrench, correct Model G, but this logo and the placement of it and the model number is suspected to be pre-war.

This 6" Erie PIPEMASTER is a beauty though. Would make a nice match for a 14" Erie PIPEMASTER in a GMTK. Even has the "heavy duty" spec called out, and the replaceable fixed jaw insert.

Here's that trio of DBE wrenches. The top one is very early Snap-On with dual 1930 and 1931 date codes. The dwarfie 45* offset Blue-Point is a 1944. The Herbrand is wartime (AISI '1340" forged in marking) but it's not a GMTK size.

And a Duro-Chrome "G" (1945) half-moon 41-W-635, along with an older pre-war cousin.

Here are the DUNLOP motorcycle tyre spoons...

Turns out they are pretty darn good for my BSA WDM20!

Here is the BSA WDM20 toolkit diagram. It shows one spoon, but the list below it calls for qty 2.

And this cut-away figure shows two (2) tucked away inside the tool compartment.

From today's haul...

The Diamalloy, with no horseshoe logo, and the 9/16" 12-point box end, and the post-war (U.S.A., not MADE IN U.S.A.) BONNEY B17 dykes.

The 3/-8 inch drive pieces. (Note: that Plomb 5228 7/8" socket is actually crudely welded onto the uni joint! I think some Bubba was frustrated with the Plomb 3/8-inch drive swivel socket line ending at 3/4"!)

Wing,
You have been killing it at the flea lately!
I have a 1/4" drive Craftsman =V= u-joint and am posting a postwar Thorsen listing of a 1/4" drive set with a u-joint.

Any British tools you don't already have for that M20?

Some of us on here might have them lying around, or run across them. That WESCO oil can looks very PLEWS-like.
