Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
Your hood number is 20,004 digits higher than my '43 GPW....which is still "close" all things considered. I had to do a double take since we share many of the same numbers! Do you know which assembly plant this came from? Any chance for a close up of the frame serial number stamping and the nomenclature plate?
There are a few fine details that I've noticed on yours that I'll incorporate into my '43 GPW's restoration. Thanks for sharing these photos! Looking forward to seeing more.
P.S. Could you post a few close ups of your bumper bolt heads?

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
In some ways it would be a shame to restore this jeep, at a show in this original condition it would probably attract more attention than a ground up restoration.

I would take pics and then have a professional restoration done before it returns to its' separate elements.

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
This Jeep will NOT be restored. To restore a Jeep like this would be a crime. We have 5 unrestored/ original Jeeps and 4 restored Jeeps so we do not need any more restored jeeps or anymore projects in that matter. The "new" blackout light is a NOS one we put on after we bought the Jeep as the one that was on it was damaged/broken. Attached is a photo of some of the other Jeeps, not all are in the picture but 4 of the original ones are along with 2 of the restored Jeeps. I will be posting pictures of the other original Jeeps in the weeks to come. Thanks.

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
Wow that is a great looking original Jeep. can I ask you a favor I am trying to see how the fender wire clip is supposed to retain the wire leading to the black out light. Any chance you can post a close up picture of that area. I have just asked that question on the G503 Facebook page.
Thanks Brad

I didn't know they put civilian style Link Belt capstans on the military jeeps? Does it have a single or double belt crank pulley on the engine?

Could we see,as a further request,a set of MB pics? Very nice thing you've done.

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
Hello,
A beautiful jeep you have there !!
I would be interested if you could carefully reveal the division and regiment
that clearly are painted over on the rear bumperettes, that are slightly uncovered already.
It would be interesting to know it actual history that is sitting right there.
Best Regards,
Ray

Re: What an Original Jeep Looks Like
Happy New Year. To answer some questions that were asked about the Jeep:
1. The Jeep has a double belt crank pulley.
2. The Jeep was purchased from a Model A Ford collector in Maine and then went to a Model A Ford collector in New Jersey. We purchased it at auction in 2016 in New Jersey.
Attached is a photo of the frame serial number and the nomenclature plate and engine block stamping.
