ID -20/20 Amp Gauge
What WWII period vehicle used a -20/20 and gauge? This one has the little window to allow light to illuminate the gauge. Thanks in advance.

Re: ID -20/20 Amp Gauge
Looks like a gauge I see all the time on 40's and early 50's, 6 volt farm tractors.
Did not need much current flow back then. Keep the battery charged and run 2 or 3 small incandescent lights. And not much of that. Back then, farmers got up and went to bed with the sun.

Re: ID -20/20 Amp Gauge
Thanks for your reply. I'll cross reference with tractors or possibly aircraft tugs the military used in the time period period? This gauge is useless to me so hopefully I can find out what it can be used in.

Re: ID -20/20 Amp Gauge
The Army had a lot of AC and DC Generators that had 20 or 30 Amp Ammeters during WWII. I had a Waukesha IXB powered 3 or 5KW unit that was in the crate with a 20 Amp Ammeter. Gauges were AC/Delco.

I would have to agree with Joel in that the slotted, back of dash lit gauges are post WWII design.

Re: ID -20/20 Amp Gauge
A gauge for a generator makes sense. I knew it wasn't g503 for sure. This came with a grouping of gauges I bought recently and wasn't aware of any vehicle (WWII or posts war era) that used this gauge. Maybe I can use this as a donor for some parts to restore a more desirable gauge. Thanks to all who responded.

Re: ID -20/20 Amp Gauge
Just remember, the WWII Army had all kinds of gasoline powered equipment that had no wheels and did not roam the roads. Many of these mystery gauges went to that equipment.

Re: ID -20/20 Amp Gauge
I understand Joel, and concur with your statement. Using this gauge in a gen set or other similar type of equipment makes sense. Maybe I'll find someone who can use this gauge and if not then I'm sure the glass face plate, needle and bezel can be used on a restoration project and the face plate can be re-silk screened as a 30 or 50 amp.
I appreciate all the help in ID'ing this gauge.
