I think most people (including me) would prefer 6 volt for accuracy reasons. But doubling the voltage to 12 is undeniably an improvement.
An improvement and a convenience. Most people also use their jeeps as a tractor. When a vehicle is stuck in the yard, you grab the jeep. When a tree of bush needs to be pulled, you grab the jeep, When another vehicle needs a jump start, what do you do? You grab the Jeep if it is 12 volt.
If you want it to start better in the cold weather, 12 volt.
If you drive at night and want better lights, 12 volt.
If you want a more convenient battery to charge or be boosted by your other vehicle, 12 volt.
If you want to install an "off the shelf" cell phone charger, 12 volt.
If you just want the jeep running and don't yet have a 6 volt generator or regulator, what is the easiest way to get it going...... 12 volt.
If you are low on funds, often the cheapest way to go is...... 12 volt.
I like the look of the 6 volt battery, and the sound of a 6 volt starter. But when it comes to performance, the 12 volt wins in every category.
