black flooring insulation
Was there a certain model of hmmwv that used the black flooring insulation instead of the green or tan? Or was it put just in later models?

I would also like to know where to get a complete set or are there specific part numbers for the black flooring?

Black was utilized to introduce more standardization and reduce part numbers. Much like we see side west coast mirrors now in black instead of inventories carrying green, tan, and any other color for respective theater of operations.

Where did you hear that one? The black mirrors aren't even the same mirror.SinDiesel wrote:Black was utilized to introduce more standardization and reduce part numbers. And, new tan humvees have green interiors anyway.

Wrong
See for yourself.

What color are the recent mirrors on ECV & REV HMMWV's? The ones found in the pictures of early variants are original green/tan. How are they different other than having different attaching brackets/hardware for the up-armored doors? The splitview mirror body is exactly the same. They are black on every color variant, green, tan & woodland camo due to commonality to reduce inventories.

As for the driver mirror, one from an early truck wont work on a newer one. The glass is angled different for a different position. I have s black mirror but dont know where to see if it works for higher or lower spot.
Do theyonly make 2 pads in black?

Random thought.
Green and Tan are really cool if they are matched to the color of the vehicle, but overall, Black is best in the civilian world, because if you just happen to clip a mirror of a neighbor's truck and smash it to smithereens, a green or tan scuff will give you away sure as heck. A black scuff could have been just about anyone else in the world.
