Joes Motor Pool Parts

Post by hell-fire » Sun Mar 19, 2017 12:19 pm

Thought I would give a review of some of these parts as I just got back from a week long MV event and one of the dealers received a package from Joes and I made a purchase of some choice items.

The Speedo looks great and I have no doubt it will work as intended which means way better than the "professionally restored a functioning perfectly" boat anchor I purchased off here some time back and at a 1/4 of the price.

The vendor also had a proto type of one of the new Carter Carburettors and it looked great along with all the other parts I seen.

The stuff this guy is doing is the best thing to hit the Jeep hobby in years and the people sitting on their stash of NOS parts thinking it will worth a fortune are in for a shock, the products I purchased are fantastic.

Ron our site host has these parts and he is second to none to deal with.

Thanks for the review John. We are working hard to bring out new high quality products at reasonable prices. You're are right about Ron too... He has two pallets of JMP products on the way to him now. I packed them up myself!

The speedos, pintle hooks and a bunch of other new stuff will arrive here in the US about three weeks from now. I am hoping to bring some to the new Tower Park show.

Were you able to do a side-by-side comparison with the JMP 539S and the carter 539S carbs? Do they have the same markings on the bowl cover and elsewhere? In other words, are they indistinguishable from one another aside from the fact one is a new component and the other is 70+ years old? Are the parts interchangeable with one another?

Farrell, I'll be there Tuesday through Friday. Send me a message and I'll find you. I owe you slat grill speedo anyway.

Chuck, Yes the carbs are marked the same, and the parts are interchangeable. I don't think they will arrive til May though, and since I sent out my sample I won't have one at the show.

I saw those carb parts at the Pleasanton convention, they look really good! The other parts are really nice, too. I'll look for you at Petaluma!

BTT.

Everyone need to be aware of these quality items which out site host Ron will have.

At the event where I got the above parts I seen a proto type of one of Joes new Carter Carb's alongside a restored original and I cold not tell the difference these parts are going to make the hobby more affordable for all.

A fully reproduction 539 carb that looked right & runs right would be the single greatest reproduction part in a long, long, time. The only item that can beat it would be if the new cast engine blocks in a GPW format were made. And that may not be far off.

Bought a new JMP Speedometer "Moto-Meter type" later Model -Willys MB from Ron at the Petaluma meet yesterday. Good quality, but what I noticed upon close inspection is the 30 MPH numeral is not dead center located (12 o'clock) on the dial face as the original I have. It is set a bit too far to the left. About an 1/8 or so off. Only issue I see. Price was reasonable though.

You had better take another look at Jeepdraw. All those speedos with the short needle have the 30 numeral center on the dial, not to the left. That's the way I see it and my original as already mentioned is centered. As stated, nice speedo which I will install in my CJV-35.

A follow up to my above posts. Upon further review with an early post war civilian Motometer speedo, only difference is no trip counter, the 30 numeral on that one IS to the left of center as JMP speedo is. I assumed my original was a Motometer which certainely is NOT. I apologize to everyone for my misstatements above. Looks like Motometer type is different than the other brands.

No problem cjv-35 - this just means your JMP speedo was even better than you first thought !

The 539s is a correct replica. Only difference I noticed is that the last 5 on the patents has a correct top while originals have a half one. Bottom 407 stamp has incorrect font but that will not be vissible and there is not a correct throttle rod installed, arm without spring and cup. Also noticed on the sample I saw that the throttle plate was not set correct. So some tweaking and adjustment are perhaps needed but overall it looked very nice, only a bit to new

No offense, but the carbs are not "exactly" the same....they pass the six-foot test but subtle manufacturing differences exist. Don't take my word for that though since I am selling a couple of them but just to set the record straight they are NOT the same!

This is a very good copy, but not a replica...they are different.

For those who don't care about that it is a better choice than a Carter 636 or a Solex...costs not withstanding.
