MB tub on a CJ2A frame

Postby Halsey » Wed Jun 02, 2004 3:47 am

Can anyone give me some advice as to putting a 45 MB tub on to a 47 CJ2A frame? I recently purchased a MB repli tub from OMIX ADA and intend on putting it onto the frame of a 47 CJ2A that was stripped for parts long ago. Has anyone on the list done this, and if so, I'll take any and all suggestions you can give.

Thanks in advance,

If you look on the inside of the frame on the driver's side, you will find two gussets. Move the corresponding body mounts from the outside of the frame to the inside of the frame. This will allow the gas tank sump to sit on the outside of the frame when the body is mounted. Use the two forward body mount arms to index the body on the frame.

The next problem you will have is working around the T90 transmission. Try to get the transmission floor cover and the removable transmission floorboard for an M38, use these to weld over the floor to cover your T90. Trim body floorboard and the M38 floorboard as necessary. If you can get a look at an M38, you will see what I mean.

The rest will bolt right up.....

Have you looked at DARYL BENSINGER'S site? He sells a modified mb tub especially designed to fit a cj2a.
