What a find!

Postby f bill no login » Fri May 28, 2004 12:55 pm

I only went to two yard sales today, and wish I could have gone all day to ones like the first I visited. I saw an entranching tool and a canteen in a box, and looked closer.. Several pairs of leggings, some light khaki, some darker, and a few belts.. I asked if there was any more stuff, and guess what, there was:
Belt with compass attached.
A few smaller bags to attach to belt.
Marines dated herringbone weave pants and shirts, 32 waist, tall...
Marine coveralls, two pair
several unworn summer shirts and pants,
and worn pants,marked 3L and 2L and some 32 .. all light tan/khaki.
38 utility coats, also Marines. Some stuff was dated 1942, some 1943.
Anyhow, I didn't haggle, paid their price and now gotta figure out what to do with it all.

I might lose enough weight to fit some of the stuff if I eat nothing for a year or so. I have a 38 waist.. :-)

Any thoughts on what to do with such a stash? Sure would like some things that actually fit me for parades.

The second yard sale? GOt a 1965 helmet, an entrenching tool cover, and some other "nam era stuff. $3. .. I didn't dicker.. BTW.. Would the liner on a 1965 helmet be removeable? This one seems installed crooked.

See ya at the parades!

You can sell the Marine stuff on the dreaded Ebay it is very collectable. Did you get the name of the individual whose stuff it was? And yes the liner is removable. The liner is removable on all US helmets but the Pagast. Kevlar Helmet.
