Spring wire catch thickness
I have a BC1000 radio with the post war spring catches. I have a war time set of the spring wire catches to swap over but noticed the same catches on a BC659 radio battery box that has the same catches but with thinner gauge. Were there different gauge sizes to these spring wire catches? I did measure up the spring wire on the war time set and they clock out at 2.3mm or 13 gauge, is this correct for the BC1000 radio?

Re: Spring wire catch thickness
There were 2 different wire diameters and early and later. Both should work but the larger diameter are better.

Re: Spring wire catch thickness
Apparently there are 3 different spring clips regarding the wire itself. Looking at the SCR-300 manual 1945, the spring clips there are not rounded but are angled and have the thinner wire at 1.8mm or 15 gauge the other wire clip from a Battery box CS-79 lid catch for a BC 659 is not as rounded as the later type for a BC1000 works out at 2.00mm or 14 gauge, as opposed to a set of replacement catches to replace my post war set on my BC1000 which are thicker at 2.3 13 gauge.
Boring subject but interesting to see what is correct when changing the catches over from post war to wartime rather than rob similar looking catches which are not exactly the same as original. I will try and get some pictures up

Pictures of the different spring wire (small catch), starting from the smallest from left to right. The other picture is of the BC 659 radio spring catches, the one on the left is original the other 4 i have made, they need to be parkerized and painted with the correct radio green not Olive drab.
