water can mounting...

while looking through the book...operation northwind....i noticed a jeep with a storage basket like mine.....that had a water can mounted on the same side as the gas can.....

i did it on my jeep....

ill post a pic.....i like the way it came out....

ive seen em on fender steps....but i think this can looks cool....

anyway..thought id share.......

note addition of can with mounting bracket..doesnt add....to much width to jeep....

i suppose i could mount another on the otherside too.....

hope u enjoy these shots.....

i thought about this...some years back.....after norm dauerer installed his custom made storage basket on the back of my mb.....

but i cant take credit for it....as i found out....some g i some 60yrs ago..beat me to it.....

Great idea. I've got one of Norm's baskets too. If anyone wants a basket Norm's the man. I can give no higher recommendation for all his products. Anyway how did you attach the holder to the basket? Got any pics? Also do you have the scan of the original Northwind jeep? Have you filled it with water? If so does it unbalance the basket? Thanks for resurecting a great idea.

i dont have the book...but i saw it in walden's book store....

my 44 dated can leaks....so its empty...strictly for display.....

but the 30lbs or so..of water wouldnt cause u any problems.....

ill post some pics too...for u....

i just used a bolt long enuf to pass thru the basket....and used a bracket to hold them together.....another restorer made up the brackets..but....im sure a home depot could offer u something.....

oh....i ran the canvas strap up and over the top bar of the basket......

this way...the whole thing is secure and doesnt budge at all....
