Unit Markings for a Deuce in heidelberg 1970

Postby 04mustang » Thu Aug 02, 2012 8:13 pm

Hi,
Im looking to purchase decals for my deuce and I am looking to mark it with a specific unit for my dad.
He was stationed in heidelberg in 1970-72.
he can remember the 519th trans Co being the trucks he jumped out of the back of. He was assigned to Patton Barracks.

From that info i've tracked down that the 519th Trans Co (Car), was under the 26th Support Group.

My question is how would the bumper numbers be assigned on a M35A2 for a truck in this unit during this time frame?

Ive tried looking for pics on the web with no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,
Corey

Corey, if you use Facebook look at these groups, ARMY KASERNE/US ARMY GERMANY, US Army in Germany, and Cold War Veterans, there may be some people on them that were there at the same time your Dad was.

I don't know that spacific unit but My 5ton Dump I drove (M817) The bumpers were marked like this if you were looking at the truck from the front:
Passengers side
8IDA12E
8th Infantry A co. 12th Engrs

Drivers side:
A-18
Truck number which was Alpha 18. 1 indicated first platoon, and dump trucks were "8"s

I was in Mainz GY 1975

Don't know if it helps but that was how our stuff was numbered.
