Re: Serial number list , please add and tell which is yours
Hello, . . .
I am a new member here . . .
I have a question, can someone help me with my Jeep`s DOD?
It`s a Willys MB Slat Grille the Frame nr. is #112918 I tried to discover the DOD with Emil Beckers book and i only found out that it is between Jan 1942 & Mar 1942.
Maybe the Hood nr. could be helpful 2045380 this original (blue grey) number was still visible before restoration.
Some other infos what could be helpful;
She did have normal brake lines like the late MB/GPW`s and i couldn`t detect any signs of a removed typical Slat grille brake line bracket.
When i got her, she comes with the late window frame but without any bracket for the rifle holder.
There was also the early filtrete behind the dashboard (dated with the year 1941 on the backside)
The engine is unfortunately a Ford GPW but with the early cylinder head (no brand + Part nr. 639660) the gearbox is a T84.
She has the early fuel tank with the small hole and the fuel gauge says "Gas", the Ampere meter goes from -30 to +30
I would be glad if some one could help me in this question, . . .

Re: Serial number list , please add and tell which is yours
Hi Guys,
This is my first posting of hopefully many more. I'm a little bit confused, as I have just purchased an early MB, with a non glovebox body for restoration, so I am looking to you guys to help me out.
OK, the chassis number is MB 125287, and the scripted body on her is Number 20613 (stamped on the front gusset plate). Am I right in assuming it's one of the first to be fitted with a stamp grill, or should she have a slat grill.
Any info would be appriciated
Regards
Keith (from Oxford UK)

Re: Serial number list , please add and tell which is yours
Hi Lloyd,
Small world or what !. This jeep surfaced just a couple of weeks ago, via a chance phonecall one night. A very good freind of mine asked me if I could value a possible WW2 jeep and sell it for him via the MVT. We went over expecting to see a Champ or Landrover and it turned out to be an early 42 scripted bodied Willys !. The old guy who had owed her for the last 10 years, realised he could'nt finish her, so wanted to sell her on ( I could'nt say no). Looking at various data, I reckon the body is mid Feb 42, and the chassis is very early March 42, both of which are in amazing rust free condition. Interestingly enough, the T84 gearbox has a rebuild data plate on it from an American depot in Japan from 1958, which could mean she also saw service in Korea ! . If she turns out to be a slat grill, I will have an even bigger smile on my face
Keep in touch,
Keith

Hi mate my original script body number on the gussett is 43634 and my chassis number is MB132051 just post "slat"...if i remember correctly true slat production finished at approx MB125800.
So i think you have a very late true slat grill...but other more experienced G slat owners will confirm.
Do you still have my phone numbers mate ?
Regards
Lloyd

Re: Serial number list , please add and tell which is yours
I'm negotiating with the owner of a very late slat grill #125648. Willys script tub, glove box, mix of early and standard MB features. It had a front end collision in 1953 and has been garaged ever since! Basically a time capsule because I think most everything on it is original to the Jeep including the rear seat, guages, etc. Looks like one civilian coat of paint over OD. Going to see it again this morning,I'll update if I buy it.
