how do you determine year model

how do you determine year model

Hi everybody, I need some help.I tried to register the mite today but chp could not determine year.I have mite number 2857 on dash plate,any idea what year this could be?

BY STUDING SERIAL NUMBERS YOURS SHOULD BE 1962 EARLY IN THE YEAR. NO M422A1 HAD DATE OF DELIVERY ONLY M422

Can you give us a range of SN by year for reference?
Something like..
1960: 100 - xxx
1961: yyyy - yyyy
1962: zzzz - zzzz
