motor issue

Postby mayor » Thu May 31, 2012 4:50 pm

I have a m170 that I'm finishing.I have had the motor rebuilt and cant get it running corect.
.It idles good but will only goes 20 miles a hour,it doesn't spit and sputter just doesn't go.
Put a vacume gauge on and I have a steady 15 lbs at idle but when I give it gas it drops to nothing then back to 15.any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

You need to do a few things:
If it is idling well & you don't get to full RPM you need to check & adjust the throttle levers/cables so that when the accelerator is @ the flootr the throttle butterfly is all the way open [first of all] then let us know more after you have done this.

There is a square block on the rod from the Accelerator Pedal to the Bellcrank that is mounted on the rear stud of the exhaust valve cover, loosen the adjusting nut on the front side of the block a ways while pushing the rod over the rocker cover until the throttle is wide open and turn the rear adjusting nut until the accelerator pedal will open th throttle all the way. (With the engine not running)
