This started out as a "knock it together, make it a driver" deal. That never really works out for me in the end!

Not the same one Mike. As I was wrapped up and burning out in the boat project, I decided that the boat was my final project. I sold all of my M151 stuff as a package deal. That final project thing didn't really work out for me either as this came here shortly after Christmas 2010. Several times I've wished that I had some of those NOS MUTT parts that went with the package deal

This is going to be my hack to get to and from the boat. We'll also use it as a shore vehicle for activities where the boat will on location for several days at a time, such as the LST trips.

What did you coat the bottom with?

That's the original bituminous based undercoating. I wire brushed any flaky areas, then scrub brushed the entire bottom with TSP in hot water. What you see now is after spraying one qt of Rustoleum Semi Gloss Black over the entire bottom end.

I'll touch up the undercoating when she's ready to come off the lift in a couple of weeks.

You don't see too many undercoated A1's. Does it have the full rustproofing.

My 1972 M151A2 was rust proofed with holes drilled into structural parts. Without it being done the old girl would probably be dust now. Mine did not get the undercoat though. I think I will add it since I have got the bottom nice and clean.

I do not like undercoat since it can hold water in as well as keep it out. A good paint job is much better and that way if any rust does start to form you will see it right away and can address it then and there. With undercoating you will not see it until a big chunk of coating falls off. Problem is that it will have the rusty metal attached to it.

Actually, it's still sitting on the lift. I had to quit to work on getting the boat in the water along with the Aberdeen meet followed by the Findlay meet. Haven't been back on the MUTT since. I'll get back on track after the convention.

Thought you might know - will an M151A1 body fit on an M151A2 frame? Have a badly rusted A2 body but frame is pretty good. I have access to an A1 body that is in good shape.
