Flags on Vehicle Antenna Mast

How appropriate is to fly a flag on your antenna mast?

For awhile now I have had a US flag on my mast but have not seen anyone else doing this.

Is this ok? What about a unit flag instead?

Depends on what you are trying to do. It's not right for a living history or museum display but in my opinion is fine if you want to convey a patriotic or other message. If a national flag just remember the protocol for whatever country that you are representing.

Don't drive beyond parade speed with flags! They don't last and there is nothing worse than seeing a tattered national flag by the side of the road.

The US Flag Code states that the proper location fof a flag mounted on a vehicle is Rt Front, never from the rear.

and practicly speaking, if the flag is to big and the wind catches it, you could snap your antenna off.

I never use my antenna... it is for the radio.

My friend Paul Fitzgerald made bumper clamps that hold flags... I've seen many jeeps with similar mounting.

This is what it says,

(b)The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat. When the flag is displayed on a motorcar, the staff shall be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender.
