Dash Light?

After taking out all the gauges, knobs, and panel lights I came across this little light that was by the steering wheel. There is some red paint on the cover and the ring around it is brass. Was there ever any thing like this on the 1941 early Willys MB Slat? Does anyone know what it is? Thanks!

Something that someone added for unknown reasons. No red lights on any wartime jeeps that I have heard of. One clue is the plastic insulated wire for it. Noticed the blackout marker light picture you had, see the cloth insulation? That is what all the wiring on the MB/GPW's was like.

Some owner might have installed it as a high beam "on" indicator light

Thanks! I didn't think it was original to the Jeep. I haven't seen any on any others. My Jeep has alot of stuff that was put on it and I wasn't sure.
