Fuel Line to Carb elbow size?

Postby VitoCapo » Mon May 07, 2012 12:23 pm

When Bubba did what he did he removed the elbow that comes from the fuel line to the carb. I'm looking for the part number or details so I can get a replacement. The elbow I have now (came with the fuel line kit) is just a touch too small. This is on a Solex carb.

In this pic it's off to the right hand side, right where the incoming fuel line would connect.

I know on the Carter it's a 1/8" pipe thread - 3/16" inverted flared tube elbow, I'm not sure though what it should be on the Solex.

I have since replaced my Solex with a Carter, but had the same issue.

What worked for me was a gold colored (anodized?) transmission fitting from Napa consisting of a nut around about a 4 inch length 5/16ths" flared pipe. Then used rubber fuel hose to connect it to the fuel pump.

I was almost afraid that would be the answer. I have a fitting that would attach to a rubber line (was there before). The goal was to use the steel line but I do have all the parts to put it back on the rubber line. Thanks!

The Banjo fitting that came with Solex was oddball as far as standard fittings go, the banjo Fitting was made to accept a 5/16" Inverted flare Nut (Weatherhead 105 X 5) The normal Elbow used at the carter Carburetor was a 5/16" X 90 Degree Elbow 5/16" Tubing X 1/8" Pipe Thread (Weatherhead 402 X 5).
