Very cool. Frozen in time B-29 is what comes to mind when I saw this P-40.

Where is it located? With British(?) non-US markings and live .50 ammo - The middle East?

I think it's in Lybia or western Egypt.

In the September edition of "Aeroplane" there appears an advert for a Limited Edition Print titled "Lost And Found" showing this aircraft being flown by Flt/Sgt Dennis Copping of 260 Sqn over what looks like a desert landscape

They may have found Denis Copping!!!

Also some scuttlebutt that the aircraft is currently in the possession of the El Alamein Museum, and is rumoured to be moving to a certain larger museum in London.

Lets hope that another MIA can be returned home.

I hope they found him, it would be fitting to return SGT Copping and his airplane back to England.

I am saddened and disgusted by what the locals did to vandalize the plane.
Was it really necessary to shoot holes into the bulletproof front glass? Bust out the rest of the plexiglass?
Looks like the cockpit was also vandalized, what a shame, this was really a time capsule of history.

Wow! It's great that they found the guy. Too bad that the locals messed with the aircraft. Does anyone know if the aircraft was found on a reasonable path towards it's intended destination?

How disappointing,

It just goes to show that even in the desert there are dodos.  whats more dodos with money.

Man really has come a long way....NOT.

To just shoot it up and wreck it is beyond words. :|
