Hi,

Your distributor has a vacuum advance, which is probably post-war.

If you do replace this engine and are not planning on using the PCV system that's on this one, I'd be interested in purchasing the pipe that leads from the oil filler tube over to the manifold, along with the PCV check valve.

Thanks,

John

That is a part I would consider selling in conjunction with the filler tube. My thoughts here were to sell the long block motor MINUS the starter , genny, dist., Horn, Bellhousing and clutch, oil bath valve cover breather, almost new fuel pump, manifolds and carb. The carburetor is late a 50's Rochester anyway and the airfilter is completely wrong but useful for my new motor. So my plan is to sell or scrap the long block and then sell some of the ancillary parts to add to my project fund. All prices for any small bits I do sell will be what I consider help a fellow enthusiast out price and not ebay pie in the sky prices.

I looked in the 43- 45 online shop manual and yes you are right no sign of a vacumn advance in any of the photos. My education continue!

When the time comes, feel free to PM me with a price on the filler tube, pipe and PCV valve. I'm definitely interested.

Thanks,

John

The starter is now off and here is the date code from underneath: H157

Can someone tell me what year and month this translates to. I checked the Inliners site but found nothing like this with their #'s.

I live 150 miles north of you in Taos so I don't get down your way too often We'll figure something out. If you want me to I can pull the head off for you. Let me know exactly which pieces you need or take the whole long block. I'm very glad that someone will get some good use out of it.

Send me a PM and we will work out the details.

Wife does vacation rentals up here come up for the weekend hit the resturants shops and galleries and pick up the motor too.

Hi Phillip,

That's funny how the world works. there was one for sale right in my own back yard and I did'nt even know it!! I don't think I ever saw that one around town all though there is a good chance I know the owner since Taos is a small town. I know of one other in town but it is rough and a non runner and the owner wants way to much for it.

I ended up getting mine up in Montrose Co. and hauling it home.........an adventure I don't ever want to repeat but the truck was worth it. LOL

that yellow color is a faded green color that is the same color that i found while i was sanding the doors down i think its the original OD color because the star on the door and on the cab top are painted over it then i was painted a darker green then a light blue the the dark blue
