Make my handbrake work?

Postby Ronnie Scot » Mon Apr 16, 2012 3:02 pm

Hi Guys,
I've owned my Hotchkiss M201 for 8 years and in all that time I've never managed to get the handbrake to work properly. I carry a wheel chock around with me for parking on slopes. Last year I took the brake drum off the transmission , removed and cleaned the shoes (they had a good thickness of lining on them), inspected everything for wear and then replaced it and adjusted it according to the manual but it's still almost useless.
Has anyone any ideas about what can be done to make it work? I cant believe it was this poor when it left the factory.
All advice will be gratefully received.
Thanks,
Ronnie

Hi Stevie,

Hi Stevie,
Sorry about not getting back to you sooner. I got the message with your phone number but I am across on Isle of Arran just now and can't get regular access to internet or to good mobile phone signal. I've got jeep across here with me - using it as daily transport. Will give you a call v soon.
Cheers
Ronnie
