Postby aussiecapt » Wed Mar 28, 2012 12:14 pm

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the going rate for a pair of M416 wheels?

You might post them for sale on the M151 board, also.

Those are the wrong wheels for that M416B1 trailer. It should have M422 Mighty Mite wheels on it. It that why they are for sale?

How do you know it's a M416B1 trailer? The added jerrycan holders and lifting eyes are not uncommon for Marine Corps M416's and M762's.

Regular old Marine Corps M416 did have lifting eyes. But they were thicker and installed at the front and rear of the tub. M416B1 which was used with the M422 Mighty Mite had thinner lifting eyes, as this trailer does, and the jerry can brackets on the front. The M416B1 also had wheel spacers and M422 wheels instead of M151 wheels. I have seen 3 of these B1s that I can remember. They are pretty rare.

M416B1, note the wheels with the larger holes. They are M422 Mighty Mite wheels 8) First Chuck Davis' (back ground with blue hoody) M416B1 behind his M38A1 and my pseudo M416B1 behind my M422A1 Mighty Mite. The lifting loops on the standard USMC trailers are 3/4" while the M416B1 has 1/2". Bottom shot of the 1/2" lifting loops. Right click and "view image" for full view.

Bill, if I recall correctly, the M416B1's I have seen did not have the front lifting eyes.

Bill H is right...it is a B1, thanks for the pic Bill...all of the lifting eyes were bent one way or another so I was unsure how they actually should be set!!!!!

Yeah Terry, you wouldn't recognize it now! It is actually in pieces, full frame off resto in place now. The tub and tow hitch bar and lunette has been sandblasted and primed. I need to fill in the holes and do some patch work for all the rust holes. I have also ground down the entire frame and treated all the rust with a rust converter then primed and ready for repaint. I have also taken down the axle, and pulled apart the bearings, race, and brakes. These have all been redone as well. I hope to put it all back together this week!
