Many thanks David and Georg.

Georg, I thing the bracket on your picture is similar to that what I mean. It were nice to compare this one to the original one.
It means, this gauge is istalled as weel from the inside of dash?
Does anybody have picture of original one?

The MA gauges layout was taken from the 1938 Willys car (see below photo). The photo is not clear enough to determine if the temp gauge was installed from the back or front. The parts book for the 1938 Willys shows a clamp 651634 for the temp gauge.

The gauges shown in David’s photo above from Normandy 2009 appear to be from the 1938 car or pick up truck? The temp gauge in David’s photo looks like it could also be installed from the back of the panel and would have the same appearance as my temp gauge in the above photo.

The Willys Quad temp gauge appears to be installed from the back (see below photo).

The MA photo in the Oct 1941 Popular Science article “Leaping Lena Joins the Army” appears to show the temp gauge installed from the back (see below).

The temp gauge is installed from the back on all of the Ken Hake MA restorations. However, I have seen the temp gauge installed from the front on other MA restorations. Which is correct?

In TM-10-1102 the temp gauge A-2363 is in the instruments group 0605 without any bracket. However in the body group 1800 there is an instrument mounting bracket A-2124 that could possibly be for the temp gauge?

It would be great if someone has an original photo of the MA temp gauge and fastening method / clamp / bracket on the back of the panel.

Hello All,

Nice pictures George.

Here is a picture of a MA temp gauge taken at Corowa GPA swim-in this weekend.
Image

Looks to be correct gauge but in my opinion it is mounted incorrectly. It should be fitted up from the rear and not from the front.

Interesting. I didn't know that they were installed from the backside. This site reveals such interesting stuff at times. It seems to me that the gauge would be much harder to hold in place that way and would tend to loosen up and rattle around but hey... :?

This is the MA that I photographed the gauges in.

Hello George & All,

In TM-10-1102 the temp gauge A-2363 is in the instruments group 0605 without any bracket. However in the body group 1800 there is an instrument mounting bracket A-2124 that could possibly be for the temp gauge?

Jeez, George how did you find that part... took me 2 cups of coffee and I knew the number I was looking for. Got to love Ford parts books, at least the numbers are sequential most of the time :) . Boy the Willys guys knew how to confuse people :|

I would have to agree on your assumption. Both the speedo and instrument cluster are held with 10-24 x 1 1/8" long screws(#52713) and nuts and there is the bracket A-2124 held with a single (1) 10-24x3/8" long screw (#5182) with nut.

If the temp gauge was held from the front it would need a bracket and 2 nuts but no screw.

Good luck

Many thanks for your comments!
Pleas see attached picture. This is a shot of original dash panel MA from down. There you can clearly see, next to the 3 holes (armature lamp switch), a hole there, which is, I mean, a hole for 1 screw (No 10-24 ???) for Temp gauge bracket.
After considering all information my opinion is following:
-the gauge originaly was instaled from back like other gauges
-the bracket (I newer saw original picture or picture from part list) was like the bracket on George's MA, or very very similar to that one. This fits as well to information (his description) I got from a guy having 3 MA's in the past.

Many thanks!!!

Picture of Original bracket is very welcome!
