Value of Cut M151A2 no title in good shape

I have been helping my father in-law bring his M151A2 back to life. It has been sitting outside for years so the gas tank was rusted and the seats are rough. He recently offered to sell it to me and need to get an idea of what it's worth. The body has been cut and welded. It doesn't have a title. The odometer reads about 7000 miles but I don't know if it's accurate. There are minor dents in the fenders/grill and seats are rough. I know it ran well years ago. I'm in the process of putting a new tank in it so I haven't had a chance to drive it. Any inputs are welcome. thanks...

Need to know what the underbody rails look like. That is the determining factor on these vehicles. It is also the main factor in whether it is worth doing anything at all to it. Check to see if the rails are rotted around the rear suspension arms before spending any money on it. Being a unibody design the rails are the frame, better stated the rails are attached to the body and everything together is the frame. If any part of it is rotted then you lose strength. Some areas can be repaired with kits and some will need to be fabricated. It can get extensive and expensive.

Hi Rick - The underbody is in very good condition. No signs of rust. The only structual defect is the cut across the middle . The main rails were not cut all the way through. It looks like they were 1/2 to 3/4 cut before being welded back up.

I'd SWAG between 1000 and 2000 max.

No title
Reweld is older and may not have been done well, and may be fatigued and potentially hazardous...
Basically a parts jeep put together, so figure a running decent pack (radiator to transmission) is 200-500 (not a NOS or new one here)
The top is $60-150 new (and now worn)
the top bows $100
the seat frames 25-50
windshield frame 100-250
front grill 75
set of used tires and rims $200
set of used cushions 100
So you start adding up all that and around 1K to 2K for an off road unlicensed vehicle... Add a couple of hundred in costs "IF" you can get it titled through a titling company, or possibly you can just registered within your state with a bill of sale.

So it's worth more than scrap, but not as much as a rusted out un-cut jeep with title. No matter how much "fun" and family history it may have had it's still a piece of old rusty put together iron once it rolls out the driveway to someone else.

Ah Will, Right to the point as usual. I would have to agree with Will on the price range although I would lean towards the top end IF, and only if, you could get a title. Something to remember with a cut is that the weld area is going to rust quickly inside of the channels where you can do nothing about it so it will crack or rust through there eventually.

Thanks for the inputs. I was thinking between $2-$3K. Granted it doesn't have a title and it's been cut but mechanically it seems to be in great shape. I'm be verifying it runs well as soon as I complete the gas tank repairs. I'm going to look into what it takes to get it titled.

One of the Many reasons I love living in NH. I don't have to worry about a title, just need a bill of sale. I would love to find an m151 just as you have described and for the price these guys are quoting without title.

Kind of difficult to find anything good for two grand anymore.

I paid a lot more than that for a stripped body.
