It is fun working on these things. Right now I feel like Doctor Frankensteen with the Abby-Normal brain in my creation! Or is that in my head?

Since I have nothing better to do given the weather, I'll post parts pictures. Here is the Ball Special wide mouth jar on the Farmall air pre-cleaner.

By the way, the part came in and my wife said, "Whud'ja pay for that?"
I answered, "Nine Dollars," in a proud, look what i found for cheap tone of voice.
"Could'a got ya a case of those at the store for ten bucks!" she answered.

DOOOOH

Found a Waukesha FC 181. It is very similar to the FC 151 except it has a magneto instead of a distributor. it is stuck, but not seized, whatever that means. i was thinking of buying it and breaking it open for parts. Does anyone think this would be beneficial for the Clark restorers? If so i may pick it up and part it out for everyone to use.

This is the same motor I have in our CLARKAIR project right now. She was a fire sprinkler pump engine for a school, so she sat ready for about 50 years with almost zero run rime. Someone tried to sabotage it apparently as I found kitty litter in the bottom of the pan under the fill tube that had not been sucked up by the oil pick up tube.
Anyway, I had to remove the magneto, (as it was on the same side as the starter and cannot fit inside the frame of the dozer) rework the oil disptick tube length (so the starter would fit).
When inspecting the bearings and looking inside the oil gallery I found there was a cast hole and bushing for the distributor tail installed, but the distributor main hole itself had to be drilled out through a thin cast layer along the base of the block. The cam shaft had the distributor gear on it already. Also the water outlet pipe on the bottom side was different, (came out further on the mag model and needed to be narrower on the clarkair) as was the water pump I seem to recal (going from memory on that one) The radiator that came with my stationary unit was wider, so it could not be adapted to the clarkair (my only hold up right now)

So you can swap this as a good core if your original engine has thrown a rod.

Great..thanks for the info. I suspect it would be a good idea for me to get this engine for spares for the CA-1 community.

I did not realize there was a leather boot on the shifter of the CA-1. here is a photo of the remnants of the 2nd dozer I am restoring. I am assuming it to be original to the machine as not much on this one has been tampered with with the exception of wench removal and torching the two sprocket shields near the rear of the dozer.

Photo of the top of the distributor cap. Appears to be original. Note the "C" on the top of the cap. Lots of work to get this one running!!!

This is a photo of the oil line to the governor. I had not seen this before. This came from the spare Wauk FC 182 from a generator.

I have the reproduction Track adjuster covers and the sprocket "weed cutter/guard" about done. I also have the ballast box doors available minus hinges. The ballast boxes I have measured on three machines are 36" to 36" 1/8" wide overall. PM me if any of you are looking for this sheetmetal to restore your machine.
