The Nazi's did not have the opportunity to murder the other 25% of the Jews in Europe....
I think the death rate of European Jews at the hands of the Nazi's is directionally proportional to their accessability to them to kill them. I would bet if the question was ..."What percentage of the Jews taken into custody by the Nazi's were died?"....that the number would be nearer to 95% or higher.
Conversely if the question about the Soviets was "What percentage of Soviet soldiers were killed by the Nazi's?" it would have been LOWER.
The Soviets put about 34,000,000 soldiers in the field in WWII....while 7,000,000 died officially, some claim 11,000,000 is a more realistic number...
So if 11 million out of 34 million died...that's a measly 33% of their forces died... I think we fielded about 16 million and suffered about 418,000 dead in WWII...
As far as the Soviets born in 1923 having a death rate in WWII at 80%....you have to remember Stalin ordered the slaughter of former POWs held by the Nazi's so some of the deaths are on his orders.
Of the nearly 250,000 Germans engaged in the Battle of Stalingrad.... of the 91,000 Germans left alive who surrendered at Stalingrad, about 45,000 died marching into captivity and of the remaining 46,000 POWs, an additional 39,000 died in the gulags leaving only 7,000 to return to Germany...so of the 250,000 German soldiers in that offensive.....
The death rate was much higher than 99%....in fact, closer to 99.82% of them never made it home after WWII. (OK, some were Italian and Bulgarian or from conquored nations...)
War is HELL....
