FOLLOW ME KIT-WANTED

Postby Ben Dover » Sat Feb 25, 2012 6:06 pm

FOLLOW ME KIT- STOCK NO. 5025-416700 for the 1/4 Ton 4X4 Truck. It included Instructions and parts to modify and install a USAF Issue Kit manufactured for the MB/GPW Jeep and was first issued in 1948. It had a push button controller mounted on the Jeep Steering Column and was connected to the Radio Filter Box.
I have a couple of misc. Strata Blue brackets and a power cable. It was part of a gift package from Mutual Truck Parts in Chicago, an old army truck parts supplier of ours.
It had a Rectangular Box 4 feet, 8 inches long, 3 feet, 2-1/2 inches wide, and 4-3/4 inches deep which housed lamps to illuminate warning signals: Stop: Right Turn: Left turn: and the words "Follow Me".
I would like to find one of these kits for a future Jeep project.

I have shared what I have and am hoping someone has more information on this specific kit the AAF and USAF once stocked.

That was quite funny, considering the driver name!

Jeepernick,

Just curious. Is that sweet young follow me lady a true vintage piece, or a reproduction?

I made that about 30 years ago after the drawing in the jeep jeep jeep volume one book, so almost vintage!
