Postby cobrapilot » Thu Feb 23, 2012 7:00 pm

i have been looking all over for a battery box for my 1952 m38a1 with no success. I seen here or another site where someone built there own, does anyone have a good one for sale? Or if i have to build my own does anyone have the measurements for the box and know what gauge steel was used? Thanks, Randy in Laurel hill, FL

Check with Midwest Military, he may be able to help. Do you have any pieces or brackets at all?
There are drains and tubing to the trays which will be a slight problem as I doubt any NOS parts will be easy tofind and there are no pics in any TM's or SNL's, just reference.

Here's one on Ebay. Shippings kinda high since it's coming from Greece.

Looking for the following parts to finish my 1952 M38: fuel tank straps, front seat pans, battery cables, top bow rods, patch body panels for rear corners. NOS 0-60 psi oil pressure sending unit with Douglas connector. NOS head light dimmer switch.

Hello randy here, i do not have any of the brackets that attach to the battery box. Does anyone have a set of used brackets for the battery box, and a used/new battery box for sale or trade. i have a used m38 fuel tank i would part with. thanks, randy

DL bensinger had some that come from MD Juan.

I was proud to get it. It was tricky to fit up as it isn't perfect but if doing it again it would be easy as I made all the mistakes on the first one.
I have a post with pictures here:

i contacted midwest jeep, they said they were tooling up to build battery boxes, but could not give me a definite time when it would be done. If someone else is needing one give them a call they might expedite things. is there only 2 "L" type brackets that hold the battery box?
