WTK What winch is this?

Is this a MU-2 or a ???? It was on a M37. But it is not a LU-4

Looks like an MU-2 to me.

MU-2A The engagement is on the wrong side for an MU2, and the mounts do not have the tilt built in.

LOL now there is a man that knows his winches. What do you know of the MU-5?

So this is a non military winch? Would be the conclusion or a different application?

It is a Garwood or Heil WWII isssue 10,000 Lb. Look on the outside of the worm housing or upper gear cover.

It is a Gar Wood 2U-512 to be specific. 10,000 lb. capacity. Its' design is for military applications.
