Can any identify Model of Russian tracked truck - 1950's??

Postby DaninNM » Fri Dec 01, 2006 10:46 pm

I have an interest in a tracked Russian truck from the 1950-60's Someone said it was an ATML but I cannot find a picture of such a vehicle as an ATML. Would like to find and buy a runner - Can anyone help with an ID - I have a picture - will e-mail to anyone who thinks they can identify it
Thanks

D, it's an AT-L artillery tractor/prime mover. Russians have a wide category of vehicles based on these Prime movers. This AT-L is a light prime mover, the AT-S is medium and AT-T is a heavy prime mover. They are nice and reliable machines and fun to drive.

Mikko
This is an AT-T heavy full tracked prime mover. Chassis is based on the T54 tank. Engine V12 diesel. Cab is a widened version of that used on the Zil trucks.

The also build some engineer types like a trenching vehicle BTM/ETR-409 .

Good luck Dan, get in contact with Richard Moore from http://www.russiantruck.co.uk.

Hi there, Jeroen!

You are absolutely right about the fact that AT-T has identical roadwheels, tracks and drivesprockets with T-54. But this particular tracked prime mover is AT-L. The roadwheels and tracks do resemble that of T-54's, but the track is narrower and has different pattern. Also the roadwheel's pattern is different. In AT-L the roadwheels look like they are cast iron, but T-54's are pressed iron. All in all, when compared to AT-L, the AT-T looks more rugged and heavier. :D
