I've had several through the years from a local source. All were NOS and all were green. I dont think the plastic is painted either it seems to be green impregnated throughout, but I'm not going to gouge it to make sure... My first mites came from Surplus city (my mistake). One of them was billed as the "nicest one the owners son, forgot his name, had ever seen!" After shipping it across the country it turned out to be much worse than expected but one did have a green steering wheel. I sent it to Russ Jones for a makeover and he commented amongst other things that "at least it has the original steering wheel, they were all green."
THis is what it looked like when Russ delivered it to Georgia in the bed of his Ford Pickup

Are you selling the one on eBay?

"at least it has the original steering wheel, they were all green."

That is rather odd because of the several Mites I've seen and I also owned a shorty all the steering wheels have been black plastic.

I can see all replacements being green??? :?

All of the period color photographs of Mites that I have show a black steering wheel as do the bulk of the restorations. They must have made them in both or as I posted above, replacements were green. There is one on eBay but the green is more like lime green and I just don't think that is right. Could it be just the picture? :?

The one on ebay is Matt Fox's. He had a whole rack of them all from USMC NOS inventory. I bought mine from Matt. The puke green color is from the camera reflection. It matches a NOS steering gear pretty well.

Is the one in the photo posted here on the carpet the same one for sale on eBay then? I wonder if Matt has any more of that combo? I'll get in touch with him.

THe one on the carpet is mine, but came from Matt from the same rack as the one he has on ebay. As far as I know this is the LAST one he has and will ever have.
I think that they still have some in Hallsville.
