Another Ford GPW found!!

Postby Bryan Burt » Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:05 am

I was driving to the glass place to get glass for my CJ2A and took a wrong turn. I keep going back and forth look for a ramp and then something cought my eye! It was green and really square looking. I quickly stopped my truck and turned around and there set another WWII Jeep and a car body shop! The Jeep has the original WWII Jeep Artic top minus the driver and passenger doors. It has its plus and minuses. I my trade my CJ2A jeep i just brought back to life for this GPW. :D The owner told me he uses it on his farm. I asked him so what comes with it if I got it? He said what you see is what you get... I said, so no seat frames? He said no I always used a, old apple crate to sit on ha ha. Every bolt i saw on the jeep was F marked including the flat sided hood latch bolts!

Engine head looks to be WWII nonribbed MB, but the engine block is CJ. :(

The guy will not sell it, but will trade for a decent willys jeep to use on the farm. I am going to trade my cj2a project I have listed on the CJ tech forum. he has seen pictures and is very interested. I might be getting jeep number 46 and WWII jeep number 7 wednesday! Ha. I think it is an even trade?.. :D

I trade and got the jeep. I took the top off and started stripping the rigged floor out. I also got it running. I am going to try and drive it tomorrow if I find time.

I have completed it with a motor pool restoration! It is now for sale and on ebay! :D I love building these old Jeeps. It feels good to step back and say that you brought that history back to life! I built the top bows and rear seat frame for this jeep! They really are not to hard to make. It looks nearly factory now. You can watch the entire project on my youtube accountWillysman2a if you like.
thanks
